Why is my ETH 2.0 Staking APY increasing?

On ETH 1.0, the protocol used the consensus mechanism known as Proof-of-Work (same as Bitcoin's), which required miners with big Nvidia GPU operations to mine each block to validate transactions & secure the network. Miners would get a block reward for doing this as an incentive.

During the Merge, Ethereum switched to a new consensus mechanism, known as Proof-of-Stake. Now holders of Ethereum are the ones who validate the network by "staking" their ETH. No more energy-intensive computers are needed, and all the rewards the old miners were getting, now go to the stakers!
